Green

Flash

With all the gardening I've been doing lately I think I'm turning green. What an awesome alternative to sitting in the office writing estimates and fending off old-media folks who try to sell me advertising in their newspapers and magazines... (it seems like everybody around here thinks s/he has to start yet another new regional magazine to sell ads for until it flops: surprise, surprise).

Gardening is also great for listening to podcasts and music. Some of my personal favorites right now: Regina Spektor, Thea Gilmore, Melissa Ferrick...

Today is my day off. Of course I couldn't resist sneaking off to the office for a few quick things I needed to get off my working mind. Now I am trying to get into the mood for working on my book and I realize time is running out. Kati and Isa are about to return from Isa's childrens' group. You can imagine how much peace and quiet you can have with a 2-year-old tearing through the house.

Enough procrastinating.

Pink birthday

Pink Lips

Pink tulip - seen in the castle garden today.

What a Sunday... great weather and it is Isa's second birthday today. You can imagine (if you have or have had kids...).

U2

I recently saw U2 in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Too bad it was just the designation for the second underground parking level underneath the "Museum Georg Schäfer".

I must admit that in all things musical I am not such an early adopter as in all things technical. I still have not heard the new U2 album and probably won't for another few years. But I have tried most new mac shareware / freeware. I suppose I *am* an old fart. Or just a nerd.

Yes, you can hand me my nerd / geek certificate now. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Things Are Green Again in Franconia

Finally things are green again around here. Asparagus season is upon us here in Franconia and the countryside is nice to look at after the dreary season.

Now we're talking:

Working Outdoors

Temperatures are finally becoming more agreeable here in southern Germany so I spent a few hours working at my Macbook in the castle garden. Emilio took great interest in this fine piece of technology. It wasn't easy keeping him off it...

German Army visits the castle

The visit of a company of German Army soldiers to the castle on a road march yesterday brought back memories of my 8 years of active-duty military service (plus 3 years as an Army cadet) as an Airman in the U.S. Air Force and as a Cavalry officer in the U.S Army.

Young Visitors

Katharina's Kindergarten buddies visited us yesterday for a tour of the castle. Of course the pond in the castle garden was the main attraction.
