Database Chaos

Part of my huge Access database crashed on me today and doesn't want to let itself be fixed. Perhaps it *is* time to switch to filemaker, after all. It would be the perfect opportunity to fine tune the database structure but also a whole heck of a lot of work. For me programming is more of a "long-evening-winter thing" but I suppose I have to delve into it now.

Meander

Sometimes the greatest works of art are found in nature itself. I found this previously worm-infested beech leaf in the castle garden yesterday.

Red Roses Too

Things are quieting down at the castle. At least it seems that way. Perhaps it's just the season with its melancholy softness that has that settling and peaceful effect on everything else.

Long walks through the village we all come back from soaked from slithering down embankments; leaves found hours or days later in folds of clothing; cold feet in the kitchen at night when making the milk for Isa; warming your back on the radiator after an hour outdoors...

I really do love this time of year.

Nurse

Kati is sick which means I'm on nursing and parenting duty 24/7. Time to take the kids back out for another walk so that Kati can get some rest.

Beam me up...

I finally broke down and bought a digital projector (something Germans call a "beamer" which kind of reminds me of Scotty). The dang things are almost affordable now. And Amazon delivered within 48 hours. It'll get put to good use at this weekend's event at the castle (a 50-year wedding anniversary).

I plan on boring my co-workers with a foto-laden presentation at the annual xmas party as well (no, not powerpoint and not keynote but google docs because I can work on it on both PC at work and mac at home).

WiseStamp

Installed the firefox plugin WiseStamp today. I prefer its signature to gmail's own signature feature because at least WiseStamp puts it in the right place.

The Link is here.
